Registering a Death Case

Once an official death certificate is issued, the death case must be registered at the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Department of Naturalization and Residency of the emirate of residence in the emirate of residence. The Ministry of Health and Prevention registers and records the death case, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation attests and certifies the death certificate and its translation, while the Department of Naturalization and Residency cancels the visa.

Registering a Death Case for Ex-pats 

The process of registering a death might vary from emirate to emirate, according to the religion and residential status of the deceased.
In the case of the death of an expatriate, contact the embassy or consulate of his country in the UAE to inform them and inquire about the procedures to be followed.
The deceased expatriates may be cremated or buried in the UAE or have their bodies embalmed to be sent to their home countries, on showing the requisite documents.
Upon sending the body to the home country, the death certificate shall be translated and duly attested, in addition to an NOC from the embassy or the consulate of the deceased.
The diplomatic mission must abolish the passport and register the death in the home country.
