Getting a Marriage Contract

The Ajman Judiciary Department officially issues and registers marriage contracts, whether the ceremony takes place inside or outside the Judiciary Department premises.

Procedures

  • If the marriage contract is to be held inside the Judiciary Department premises, prospective parties must visit the marriage contracts section, with the legal guardians and witnesses and submit the required documents.

  • In cases where the marriage contract is set to take place at an external venue, such as a home, individuals are required to visit or contact the Judiciary Department to request and schedule a marriage judge. This booking process is also available online.

Documents

  • IDs of the engaged couple and the guardian or of the attorney of either party (original and copy)

  • Family book for UAE nationals (original and copy)

  • Passport for non-UAE nationals (original and copy)

  • Emirates IDs of witnesses (original and copy)

  • Original pre-marriage medical test certificate (issued by an approved medical center)

Delivery

  • After the marriage procedures are completed, prospective parties can collect the marriage contract and an attested copy from the Judiciary Department within 2-3 days.
