Transfer Vehicle Ownership

A service that facilitates the transfer of vehicle ownership to the new owner following the formal relinquishment by the previous owner

Required Documents

    Individuals

  • – Presence of the transaction owner or an authorized representative with a legal power of attorney - Vehicle ownership document - License plates - Electronic insurance valid for 13 months under the name of the new owner - Lien release certificate - Valid Emirates ID for both the current and previous owners

    • Business

  • Presence of the company owner or an authorized representative - Vehicle inspection certificate - Valid copy of the commercial license No-objection letter - Lien release certificate, if the lien has been settled.

    • Government Entities

  • An official letter from the relevant government authority signed by the authorized signatory - Vehicle inspection certificate - Electronic insurance valid for 13 months under the name of the new owner - Lien release certificate if applicable

Process

  • 1 The current vehicle owner or their authorized representative, as well as the new owner or their authorized representative, must be present at the service center, presenting the required documents (ID / vehicle ownership), and settling any outstanding traffic fines, if applicable.
  • 2 Receiving the new ownership / In the case of transferring the vehicle ownership to the new owner with a new plate number, or for transfer/export/possession procedures, please visit the MOI Smart Application and the MOI website.

  • Light Vehicle – Private/Public: AED 350

  • Light Mechanical Equipment Private: AED 500 - Light Mechanical Equipment Commercial: AED 700

  • Cargo Vehicle (Below 12 Tons) Private: AED 400 - Cargo Vehicle (Below 12 Tons) – Commercial: AED 650

  • Cargo Vehicle (Above 12 Tons) Private: AED 800 - Cargo Vehicle (Above 12 Tons) Commercial: AED 1,000

  • Heavy Mechanical Equipment Private: AED 800 - Heavy Mechanical Equipment Commercial: AED 1,000

  • Motorcycle: AED 200

  • Bus (Private – Less than 27 passengers): AED 300 - Bus (Commercial – Less than 27 passengers): AED 400

  • Bus (Private – More than 27 passengers): AED 600

  • Trailer / Semi-Trailer: AED 120

  • Regular Plates: AED 80 - Ajman Identity Plates: AED 300 - Sport Plates: AED 500

  • Delivery Fees (Empost) 15 AED
